Earlier manifests

Each time a C2PA-aware app edits a file, it adds a new manifest and keeps the previous ones. The last one is the active manifest; the earlier ones form the edit history, and are shown underneath it.

Frequently asked questions

What are Content Credentials?

Content Credentials is the consumer name for the C2PA standard: a signed record embedded in a media file that says which app or device created it and how it was edited. See our C2PA guide.

Does this verify the signature?

No. It reads and displays the manifest — generator, actions, ingredients, signer certificate and thumbnail — but does not check the cryptographic signature or the certificate chain. Use the official Content Credentials verify site for a trust decision.

Which formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG and WebP manifests are read from their standard locations. For HEIC, AVIF and TIFF the file is scanned for an embedded manifest store.

Why does my image show no credentials when the original had them?

Many apps and platforms drop metadata when you edit, screenshot, compress or upload an image. Once the manifest is gone it cannot be recovered from the file itself.

Can I remove Content Credentials?

Yes — click “Remove metadata & download”. The manifest store is cut out of the file without re-encoding the image.
